The Mist

My friend Adam bugged me and bugged me to watch this movie, telling me it was one of Stephen King's best since The Stand and It and I just had to see it.

WTF, DUDE!?!? As novel writer, King excels. But some of his transitions to movies; I find them lacking.

After a violent storm rocks a town in Maine, a thick cloud of mist approaches from a mountain valley the next morning. As the mist quickly envelopes the area, a group of people get trapped in a local grocery store.  The people soon discover that there are creatures in the mist that begin attacking people who have gone outside.  And all this may or may not have been caused by a nearby military base as confessed by an Army private trapped in the store.  Crazy preacher lady says it's God's punishment, biker says "...He's not the bloodthirsty asshole you make him out to be", creatures attack, people die, people try to escape, people die, military arrives with lots of soldiers and big guns, credits roll.  period.

Rent it or add it to your Stephen King collection if you're a fan, if it's on one late night on HBO, go ahead and set the dvr.  But I should have been doing something more for those 2hrs and  5 minutes.

6.75 outta 10
