Detroit Auto Show | 2011 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible

What my wife has dubbed "The Girl's Muscle Car", now gets the choice of going topless.  Black or tan is the color choice of the clothe top.  And all the soak-up-the-sun goodness comes at a cost greater then dollars.  You see, when you cut off such a large portion of a vehicle, especially a performance driven one such as the 'Maro, what you're forced to do is add things like strut tower braces, underbody braces, reinforced transmission casing, etcetera, etcetera.  All that extra metal adds up to over 270 pounds, that's a really big dude, and in a car that's already squirrelly in the corners, that a lot of weight to slosh around.

Unfortunately Chevy didn't show any love on uppng the power output to the ground with the 2011.  The monsterous 426 hp of the big boy 6.2 LS3 is still in the SS, but 0-60 speeds drop from 4.9 seconds to 5.2.  It may not sound like much, but the 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster does it in 4.7 seconds with just 332hp at the flywheel.  Something to think about when your at a stoplight in your SS Drop and some cool kid in a Z pulls up revving his V6.

You're also going to pay alot more.  $5,200 more to be exact.  I know, I know.  But if we're ever going to do our part and maintain Chevy as a vehicle building deity, you have got to ante up for that sunshine worshipping goodness.  Putting you over $37,000 into greater debt.
